The specificity of our concept lies in the fact that the film is not punched at all. The easy opening area is obtained by hot stamping : a fine line of film is melted then cooled down all around the area. Through this melting/cooling process, LDPE becomes brittle ; the film tears up easily along the drawn line.
The behaviour of punched holes at the shrinking stage is hard to control, which gives uneven results with holes that are sometimes too big thus weakening the film too much, and sometimes too small and don’t deliver completely the easy opening benefit. Furthermore, in case of cross opening, it is often necessary to use a specific film which is more expansive. Hot stamping is much more stable during shrinking and brings more even results. It offers easy tearing using standard films, even for cross opening.
No. Unexpected openings that can be noticed with punching systems come from a bad resistance to tensile stress (load movement on pallets, packs grasped on bull’s eyes). Unlike these systems, EOP only reduces the vertical shear resistance of the film. Vertical shear is never applied on packs during transportation and handling. The film’s tensile strength is meanwhile totally maintained.
Our system can create any kind of shape wherever you want it. However, for a really easy opening, the punching point must be located above a gap and the tearing line must be positioned crosswise. The most convenient shape is the one that combines 2 parallel lines with a circle segment (punching point). Regarding the location, it is on the top of the pack that it is the most intuitive for the consumer.
Our system operates with standard LDPE films ; we have tested with success a wide variety of films commonly used on shrink-wrappers. The only requirement is that your film have spots or graphical elements that can be detected by an optoelectronic sensor to ensure the exact positioning of the hot stamping.
Yes. We designed this device so that it can be fitted on all existing shrink-wrappers (Acmi, Cermex, Condi-Film, Dimac, Kisters, Krones, Ocme, Polypack, SMI, Zambelli, ZVT ...). With dimensions of 50x50 cm, our device can be placed under the shrink-wrapper, between the film reel and the raising and cutting system, a location where there is always enough space.
Yes. Our solution uses a simple and effective system that creates a double reserve of film between each stamping. This reserve offsets speed variations and ensures unwinding at constant speed in front of the stamping tool.
Our device has been designed so that the film unwinds through it enduring no other stress than the stamping one. This way, even if an incident occurs, there is alost no risk that the shrink-wrapper stops. Our system is not affected by variations in ambient or film temperature. Once the initial parameters have been set up, it requires no fine-tuning and thus doesn’t affect the efficiency of the line. EOP operates at outputs up to 50 cycles per minute, which covers the vast majority of indutrial needs.
